Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication Holds Opening Ceremony for the International Accreditation

Dec 16 --The Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication faculty members welcomed the International Accreditation External Review Committee with a welcoming ceremony during their 3-day on-site visit beginning 16 December 2010.

Vice President of Tsinghua University, XieWeihe, extended a sincere gratitude to the committee members on behalf of the Tsinghua University Council and in the name of the University President GuBinglin. In his opening speech, he took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of Tsinghua’s upcoming centennial celebration and the achievements the School of Journalism and Communication so far.

Tsinghua has seen great development in cultivation of the students, and their contribution to the growth of China. However, the school will face a serious challenge in the upcoming 100 years as China develops, and therefore the need for a ‘third-eye’, scholars from universities abroad, to provide advice and suggestions in developing the school’s curriculum.

The shared mission of Tsinghua to become a world-class university, and the goals to promote regional development, talent and reputation will be upheld and accomplished in the future centennial celebration.

Xie also thanked committee members for their commute to Beijing, and to Tsinghua University in the cold weather. He hopes that they take Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication as their own home and school, and enjoy themselves during their stay here in the city.
