Thailand Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij Visits Tsinghua University

Finance Minister of Thailand, Korn Chatikavanij, visited Tsinghua University on May 10. During his visit he delivered a speech on China-Thailand trade relations at School of Journalism and Communication in Tsinghua’s Omnicom Building.

Prior to the speech, Mr. Jin Jianbin, Administrative Dean of School of Journalism and Communication and Ms. Hang Min, professor of Global Business Journalism program, met with Mr. Korn Chatikavanij and had a short talk.

Mr. Korn Chatikavanij started his speech by saying that the students in China’s prestigious university should enjoy the school life. He then gave a short introduction about his own career life from a banker in investment banking to the finance minister.

He then talked about how China and Thailand prospering together in the post financial crisis landscape, saying China is the main pillar for the world’s economy recovery.

Mr. Korn Chatikavanij also mentioned the long history of good relationship between Thailand and China. He believed the two countries will work close together amid the global financial crisis

The minister answered questions from Tsinghua students after his speech.
