International Conference on Soft Power and Nation Branding
-In Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China
Conference Notice
The First International Conference on Soft Power and Nation Branding will be organized by the Tsinghua International Center for Communications Studies during the 8th – 9th of September 2009.
The conference will be a high level dialogue at the forefront of international discussions, covering key issues with an international perspective.
Leading scholars, professionals and decision makers from around the world will be invited, all with unique understanding and knowledge on Soft-Power and Nation Branding.
The conference will consist of four main themes:
1. National Soft-Power
2. Soft-Power and Nation Branding
3. Soft-Power and Politics
4. China’s Soft-Power Development Strategies
Experts and young scholars from China and Internationally will be invited to participate and present their newest findings during the conference, all accepted papers will be collected and published by the Tsinghua University Press. Selected authors will be allowed to give addresses to the participants at the conference and will be awarded honorary certificates of achievement by Tsinghua University.
Call for Papers
1. The Collection and Selection Process
All papers will be collected and sorted by the conference secretariat before a selection process. The selection process will consist of a committee appointed by the organizers of the event. Upon selection the main (first) author of the paper will be notified. All results will be made publicly available on the TICCS website. (www.media.tsinghua.edu.cn) (For more information regarding selection procedures and academic support please refer to Appendix 3). All outstanding achievements will be then judged, and the final winners will be invited to speak during the conference.
An ‘Award for Academic Excellence’ will be awarded to the main author of papers that pass the selection process. All papers that are awarded ‘Outstanding Achievement’ will be compiled ready for publishing by the Tsinghua University Press, and a copy of the publication will be gifted to the authors of the paper. All registration fees will be waived for the authors of conference selected papers.
The authors of papers that are rewarded an opportunity to speak during the conference will receive the same rewards, as well as a award for ‘Honorary Speaker at Tsinghua University’ and both Registration and accommodation fees will be waived.
2. Criteria for all Submitted Papers
All papers must be submitted in full.
Word limitations is as following
5,000 – 10,000 Chinese Characters
4,000 – 8,000 English Words
All papers must be according to the academic requirements of the conference with a clear and precise analysis of key themes, valuable information, and has not yet been published.
