Friday 12, The executive dean of the school of Journalism and Communication, Professor Li Xiguang took the 2008 Global business class on tour of China Radio International studios in Beijing China on Friday.
The tour was an eye opening opportunity to most of the students, especially the international students who have come to China for their first time as it gave them a chance to learn about the programming of the state run radio station. During the tour, the students were educated on the goal of the radio station. According to ------, the editor of the China radio international programes, the radio’s programming aims to introduce China to the world and the world to China.
As we went around the premises and listened to the stories of the changes the radio organisation has undergone since it’s founding in 1941, our attention was also drawn to the spirit of the 2008 Olympics which is still alive in the studios.
The words “One World One Dream” and the majestic picture of the about 2.3 billion Yuan bird’s next stadium greeted us from all the walls of the building. Maybe it was a reminder of the Paralympics currently taking place in here.
In keeping with the vision of One World One Dream, China Radio International informed us that at present it broadcasts to the world in 53 languages on both short wave and FM channels. China radio International’s influence has increased in recent years with its launch of website broadcasts and the opening of 30 foreign bureaus in major countries and regions around the world.
To cap a fine learning visit to China radio station, Professor Li Xigaung informed us that the radio station was going to provide internship training to some of us. Happy news indeed!
This visit was the second in the week following an earlier visit by the class to the Bloomberg news organization offices in Beijing, China.
