Biography

Dr. Changfeng Chen is a Professor at Tsinghua University, where she previously served as Executive Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication. A distinguished academic leader, she currently directs the AI Media Research Center and holds the role of Editor-in-Chief for the Global Journal of Media Studies. Specializing in media ethics, media technology, and communication history, her scholarly contributions include authoring over ten books and 200 articles that bridge critical debates in media innovation and societal responsibility.

Dr. Chen's career spans decades of institutional leadership and policy influence. Prior to joining Tsinghua in 2007, she spent twelve years at Peking University, where she advanced to Associate Professor at the School of International Studies and Deputy Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication. Her expertise is sought nationally and internationally: she serves on the Ethics Committee of the China Journalists Association, advises China's National Media Laboratory, and contributes to UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP) Working Group.

Committed to shaping the future of her field, Dr. Chen holds pivotal governance roles, including membership on the Academic Committee of China’s State Council and Vice Chair of China's National Journalism and Communication Steering Committee. She previously led the Chinese Association of History of Journalism & Communication (CAHJC)—the nation's sole national academic body for the discipline—as President for five years. In 2018, she was elected Founding President of the Asia-Pacific Communication Alliance (APCA), a coalition uniting 20+ communication associations across 16 countries to advance collaborative research and education in the region.She is the international council member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
