Biography
Professor Yin was born in Chongqing and received his BA and MA from Sichuan University. He was then a lecturer in the Sichuan University's Chinese Department until 1989 when he completed his Ph.D. at Beijing Normal University, he was appointed an associate professor at the same university. In 1995, he was a senior visiting scholar at the York University of Canada and then become professor, head of the department and supervisor for Ph.D. programs. In 1999, Professor Yin joined the faculty at Tsinghua and appointed the professorship of film and television studies. The professor is renowned for his appearance as judge of many national and governmental awards for television and film productions including the SARFT's Feitian Award for best TV Drama, and the Xingguang Award for the best television programmes. He is also guest professors and visiting research fellows in many leading universities and professional associations nationally as well as sitting in the senior editorial board of the leading journals in this area, including the Journal of Chinese Radio and Television, Cultural Monthly, Film and Television Arts, Journalism and Communications. Professor Yin has published 7 books and edited 6 books and written 2 textbooks. More than 200 papers were published in academic journals both in China and abroad. Yin is the Vice-chairman of China Film Association, Vice-chairman of China Literature & Arts Critics Association, Chairman of Committee of Film Theory and Critique of China Film Association, Vice-chairman of Beijing Film Association, Advisor of China Central Television (CCTV).Practically, he is also a senior advisor to varied CCTV programmes, and many independent TV drama and Film makers.
